TFKO relies exclusively on volunteers to implement our biking and skating programs. Without volunteers, TFKO would not exist! This month’s volunteer spotlight is on Gwyn.

In Gwyn’s words, “I saw a Facebook post during the pandemic asking for help to do helmet fitting for the kids at TFKO, I thought I would show up once and be done….I've done a lot of coaching & volunteering in my time, but I had never come across so much gratitude and appreciation as from these kids. I had to go back. I've been with TFKO ever since. I keep coming back to volunteer because I love seeing the confidence it builds in these kids. When we're outside, on the trails, and with their friends, I can see the joy. Every kid deserves that. In a world of chaos and stressful times, this is one way to feel like you are making a difference in your own community. It's tangible. It's easy….But the impact is huge.”
Gwyn also describes how stressed out students process their problems while biking through the forest -- going from anxious & worried to talking & laughing -- becoming more resilient in the process.
We are so grateful for Gwyn and volunteers like her! If you are able to volunteer for TFKO, we would very much appreciate it. Whether you can offer one hour per month, or five hours per week, we’ll take it! And you don’t even have to ride a bike or skate, if that’s not your thing. We need people to buy & prepare food, assist with bike-cleaning & maintenance, photos & social media, administrative tasks, etc.
