Mona Noor first volunteered at a TFKO event, “More Girls on Bikes”, a few years ago, and enjoyed the experience so much that she wanted to get more involved. She decided to become a regular volunteer with Trips for Kids Ottawa, and she’s been with us ever since!
Mona says that every ride with the youth leaves her feeling good and eager for another, but recalls one ride in particular -- the last ride of this past Fall (2024). “Our group of girls was so full of energy and wanting to take pictures to remember their season with TFKO, including pictures with the volunteer riders. Their enthusiasm, joy and gratitude was really fun to witness and made for a memorable ride and experience to cap off a great season.”

Mona loves watching the youth progress in their skills over the season, and over several seasons, but also grow as people. She sees some of them start to become mentors to the newer youth or their friends. Giving back and helping these youth enjoy the outdoors while being around other volunteers who are also giving freely of their time and energy is a healing experience. “With so much going on in the world, this helps center me. It's meaningful for me to volunteer with an organization that my younger version would have been thrilled to be a part of.”

In Mona’s words, “I would encourage people considering volunteering to come out and volunteer for at least one activity. You will meet other great volunteers, might even grow your own skills and certainly make a difference in the lives of the youth. You might be amazed at how much you get back from giving to others.”

We are so grateful to have Mona as a consistent, dedicated volunteer with TFKO. Her calm presence and next-level skills combine for an outstanding combination. Thank you, Mona!
